Where are you from?
What is your favorite Coffee Drink?
I am such a big fan of matcha lattes!! Always with soy milk. And I’m on a recent maple and brown sugar kick:)
LO- Great choice, those are so yummy!
What do you LOVE about Midland or Bay City?
I love the variety of small businesses Midland has. The whole city is like a tour of fun, cute, local shops that I would spend all my time at if I could.
LO- Right? We love Midland too and it is so true that we have a great variety!
How do you hope to make Midland a better community?
I want everyone I meet to know that I genuinely care about their thoughts and emotions. I think that listening and understanding is one of my best qualities. And if everyone had a chance to put themselves out there and let what goes through their head flow into the world, so many ideas that had been boxed up before could create so many good things.
LO- We see this quality in you… you certainly are doing this and good things will happen because of the time you take to listen and genuinely care for other’s hearts and minds.
What is an embarrassing moment you can laugh at?
I think the entirety of middle school was one big embarrassing moment. Super unfortunate but I’m grateful for the people that came out of it haha
LO-ha! Oh man, I think we all have had plenty of embarrassing stories from Middle School… lol. but you are right, the people we meet along the way are priceless.
What is your favorite thing about Live Oak?
The people. Everyone on the staff (and the customers) have already made such a positive impact on my life; I feel so much love and gratitude towards them all. If I could give each one a hug and a speech about how perfect they are, I would.
LO- Awe Meg…. we love you so much and are mutually grateful for you!
What is your favorite quote, saying or scripture?
It’s better to feel pain, than nothing at all. The opposite of love’s indifference – The Lumineers (Stubborn Love) Emotions are really big. It’s human nature to think, feel, and express. When we shut ourselves down, it’s hard to climb out of that place of isolation and apathy. I know that no matter how dark things get, it’s important for me to be grateful that I am capable of feeling something. I have the opportunity to be on this Earth and experience what love and pain and sadness and joy feels like that. That’s a gift.
LO- >snaps< makes me think of a quote from one my favorite authors, “Compassion asks us to go where it hurts, to enter into the places of pain, to share in brokenness, fear, confusion, and anguish. Compassion challenges us to cry out with those in misery, to mourn with those who are lonely, to weep with those in tears. Compassion requires us to be weak with the weak, vulnerable with the vulnerable, and powerless with the powerless. Compassion means full immersion in the condition of being human.” ~ Henri Nouwen
What do you do for fun?
I play a couple instruments, and I have since I was little. Music has always been a big part of my life. When I’m not playing it myself, I’m almost always listening to something. I think it’s a beautiful way to communicate; lyrics can give you the words you need when you don’t know how to say them yourself. My best friends and I all have super similar taste in music. Some of the happiest memories I have are being in the car with them and blasting the best songs we know, belting every word. I would give anything to relive those moments forever.
LO- Awe I agree! “Music is the language of the soul”.
What are you passionate about & what are some of your dreams?
I’m very eager for my future. I think a lot of people say this when they’re young, but it feels like it cannot come fast enough. Literally everyday I come up with more ideas for what I want my life to be like, and think about all the good things that will happen when I have the freedom to do so. Sometimes I feel a little bit stuck, but it’s good to be reminded that this isn’t forever. At some point I will have the freedom to make my own choices and do my own things and live for myself a little bit. I can’t wait to have my own house or apartment; I really want to live with one of my friends at some point. Also I want to have a garden, and I dream a lot about making my own food. Whatever I do, I know that I want to eventually manage something of my own. The list goes on!
LO- ah yes, freedom to do all of the things and pursue all of your dreams is pretty sweet… and you are going to do some pretty remarkable things, we cannot wait to cheer you on as you live your beautiful life.
What is your favorite Charity and why?
Currently thinking a lot about the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation. They award grants to different scientists around the world that dedicate their research to finding information about causes and treatments to different mental illnesses. The vision of everyone in the world being able to live happy, productive and full lives is a rewarding one; I wish that we all would work towards that goal for people struggling with mental health.
LO-Wow, this sounds like an incredible organization and one to look into.
