Meet Maija! She is a ray of sunshine and a breath of fresh air to all she encounters. With her beautiful smile and her kind heart, she has been such a gift to our Live Oak Community! We have absolutely cherished her time here, she has left a mark on all of our hearts with her warmth, listening ear, organization and thoughtfulness. We are happy to cheer her on as she turns a page in her beautiful story and begins a new chapter. It is her time to fly…. we love that while she will no longer be working for Live Oak, she is still very much a part of the community and so instead of good-byes, we say thank you Maija… thank you for your hard work, dedication to the idea that we can change the world through the simplicity of kindness 🙂 and we will be right here cheering you on as you do this same thing but with makeup instead of coffee 😉 You are awesome, beloved and we will see you around!
But before you go, we would love for you to share a little bit about yourself:
Where are you from?
What is your favorite Coffee Drink?
Hot Caramel/Honey Oat milk latte💋
What do you LOVE about Midland or Bay City?
That both cities encourage its community to get involved in the arts! To create and to come together by creating!
LO- so true, so many creatives and people who want to make the world a better place.
How do you hope to make Midland a better community?
I hope to make my part of the world better by bringing the joy and love I have in my heart into the lives of those I pass and come into contact with- to make the unseen seen, the unloved loved, and the unknown known.
LO- You do this SO WELL!! You have such a gentleness and authenticity that makes others feel safe with you.
What is an embarrassing moment you can laugh at?
In second grade I played soccer at recess and kicked the ball towards the goal and I’m so clumsy that the ball went all the way across the playground and hit a kid in the face who was on the teeter totter. He fell off and then this caused the kid on the other side of the teeter to also be launched off! 😵💫😅😂
LO- oh dear…..
What is your favorite thing about Live Oak?
That they have created a shelter for those who need refuge. A place of belonging to those who may not yet know that they do, indeed, belong.
LO- that is our heart, for sure.
What is your favorite quote, saying or scripture?
“It will be okay in the end- if it’s not okay, it’s not the end.”
LO- a good reminder for this season….
What do you do for fun?
I sing, drink coffee and have deep conversations with friends and loved ones, model, shop, create, adventure, travel anywhere and everywhere, clean🤪, listen to loud music and sing at the top of my lungs, write poems and journal, explore, and photograph nature. 🦋
LO-you have the most beautiful voice!
What are you passionate about & what are some of your dreams?
I dream to travel the country singing, writing and telling stories through songs and photography about the people and places that I encounter; to love the world and all in it. To listen, to grow, to love, and to live.
LO- that is so beautiful, we can’t wait to watch this dream unfold.
What is your favorite Charity and why?
Royal Family Kids Camp (RFCK) because they give opportunities for young kids in foster care to have a week that lifts them up, tells them they are strong, brave, able, and beautiful inside and out!
LO-Yes! Such a great organization that is doing so much good!
