We are so excited to partner with Lisa Thompson to celebrate Self Love Beauty’s Third Annual Affirmation Day! Because we strongly believe in the power of encouragement, we absolutely love that we have the opportunity to pause and set aside a whole day just to give each other life-giving encouragement. We would love for you to participate, be sure to stop by Live Oak , fill out an affirmation for someone and click on the toolbox link for some great FREE resources from Self Love Beauty.

We loved sitting down to coffee & conversations with Lisa and hope that you will be inspired by her passion and enthusiasm like we have been.

Will you tell us a little more about yourself?

I love being an advocate for confidence and wellbeing and love to run, enjoy being with friends and adventure. You can normally find me with an Americano in hand or a handful of carrot sticks.

LO- Americanos are my favorite too! Thank you for sharing with us!

Tell us about your family…

I am a dog mom to a 3 year old lab named Denver, an aunt to two boys, and a sister to two brothers and one sister. I am very blessed to have two supportive parents, aunts, uncles and cousins but also to have friends who I call my extended family. I have a pretty big support system and I really am grateful for it.

LO- a good support system is such a gift.

Where have you put down roots? How many years have you lived in Midland?

I put my roots down in Midland in 2016 when I bought my house here.

In what ways are you involved in our community?

I am very involved in the community through my role as the Self Love Beauty director but also by serving a member of the MiHIA ACE’s Steering Team, Mental Health Partnership Committee member, Midland Noon Rotary member and as the Northwood Entrepreneur Residence this year. I also love to just be involved however I can and sometimes that is by shopping at local places and spending time at local coffee shops!

LO- Wow, we love all the ways you are investing in people in our community, thank you. And thank you for your time at Live Oak. You are a breath of fresh air and a light.

How do you want to change or improve our community?

Truly my biggest vision is to help bridge the gap of confidence across all generations which is the vision of Self Love Beauty.

LO- I love that you see confidence building as not only something for our children, but for adults into later years as well.

What are your dreams?

I really want to travel the world and help people reach their full potential and utilizing wellbeing, a playful mindset and confidence to do that.

LO- That sounds like a great combination of aspirations!

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about supporting human needs in the spaces of growth in confidence and wellbeing. In just one meeting with me, you can probably understand this because I have such a passion for explaining the need for these skills in all generations and I truly want to be supporting this further.

What breaks your heart?

Feeling as though people can’t be their full selves, people pushing issues under the rug and feeling you have to ‘plan the game’ in order to create a positive change. I also think when I see a lack of confidence in individuals and knowing there is a huge gap needs to be addressed.

LO- I love that you have such a heart to empower those around you.

How have the winds of life made you stronger?

Oh the tears rolled my face just reading the question. I really think I am where I am today because of obstacles and uncertainty. I have had to rediscover myself multiple times and I think career changes and rejection personally and professionally have led me to be stronger.

LO- awe… you are strong and it is through what you have navigated and all the lessons you have learned that you are able to give hope to others.

Will you share more of your faith story with us?

Faith is really my foundation backing to keep me level headed. Through the ups and downs, I have had to rely on my faith along with supportive individuals to get through it. I feel like the picture I had for my life years ago did not turn out how I planned but so much better. I know people say that a lot but it really took me putting my hands up and surrendering many times to get me to where I am at today.

LO- yes… learning to let go and to find gratitude in where we are can be so challenging. It is awesome to see you “blooming where you are planted”. <3

Where do you get your grounding?

In taking time to refocus and this is done through prayer, conversations and reflection with friends and family, runs with my dog and sometimes just being in silence. I have had to learn that when I feel fired up, exhausted or emotion to rest my mind in order to make clear decisions for myself.

LO- Yes, such good ways to take a deep breath, gain some perspective and take time to think.

Finally, do you have a favorite quote or Scripture you could leave us with?

My office has this scripture everywhere and it is my reminder when things get tough…”She is clothed in strength and dignity and laughs without fear of the future.”-  Proverbs 31:25

LO- That is such a good one! You surely are a picture of strength and dignity! Lisa, it was such a pleasure reading this, talking over coffee and learning more about how you are changing the world!

We look forward to watching eyes light up on Affirmation Day as they both GIVE & RECEIVE encouragement.

Thank you for all you do! Keep Shining friend!
