Just as the seasons change, Live Oak is saying farewell to many students going on to Graduate School and new adventures. We have loved the opportunity to get to know Joey Ott! Always eager to help and serve wherever he was needed, we feel so grateful that he chose Live Oak for this chapter of his story. Here are some of the reasons we loved getting to know him:

What is your favorite Coffee Drink?

I really like a nice cold brew. Jolie taught me how to make cold foam which is really amazing. So shout out to Jolie!

What do you LOVE about Midland or Bay City?

The people that at I have met in Midland have been so welcoming. I’ve loved getting to be a part of the community here.

LO- we sure hope you will always feel welcomed…

How do you hope to make Midland a better community?

I want to support small businesses whenever I can and help build a positive community identity in Midland.

LO- and small businesses appreciate that so much!

What is an embarrassing moment you can laugh at?


I do a lot of embarrassing things! hahaha. But it’s a good reminder that no matter how hard you try to take things seriously, little things will happen to make life somewhat comedic. It’s easy to get discouraged, but it’s more fun to laugh at it and move on in joy.

LO- learning to laugh is very good for the soul!

What is your favorite thing about Live Oak?

The people!! I love my coworkers. I can’t believe I get to hangout with my favorite people as a job! It’s amazing.

What is your favorite quote, saying or scripture?

1 Peter 3:15

What do you do for fun?

Hang out with friends, longboard, cook, play soccer and ultimate frisbee, and play bass.

What are you passionate about & what are some of your dreams?

A lot of people don’t know how deeply they are loved and I’m very passionate about making sure people are seen and known. I try to create space in friendship that is authentic and safe so that people can be fully known without any discomfort.

What is your favorite Charity and why?

True Charity Initiative. I had the privilege of meeting and building a relationship with the founder of this charity. They aim to provide biblical charity that promotes growth and ongoing relationship.
