“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”
— Mother Teresa

Christmas has come & gone….. as we take a collective deep breath of relief that the hustle and bustle is over for a moment, we are reflecting with gratitude on 2019,

you may be thinking about a year-end gift and may consider these two organizations we got to be a voice for this year:

Midland’s Open Door and Safe and Sound Child Advocacy

At Live Oak we are passionate about caring for people. All people. But especially the marginalized, those who are the most vulnerable among us…. it’s been our honor to sit with our friends at the Open Door. We loved listening to their stories and dreams and we were inspired by their courage and resiliency.

We continue to learn more about the power of community, the heroism of mental health professionals, public servants and humanity advocates. We love finding ways we can encourage and come alongside those on the front lines and we are humbled and honored to roll up our sleeves to do the work of fostering spaces that are safe havens of nourishment and inspiration.

We also spoke this February on behalf of Safe & Sound Child Advocacy at their annual Art + Advocacy banquet. We shared stories and brought attention to ACES. We implored our audience to link arms, to have each other’s backs, to be brave enough to have hard conversations, to be noticers and advocates for those who cannot advocate for themselves.

“when you have found your freedom, you go back and help others out”.

We ask you to join us at the close of 2019… the close of a decade and the beginning of a new one… in asking ourselves… what breaks our hearts and what have we been rescued from? Because we agree with our friend Harvey, “when you have found your freedom, you go back and help others out”.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude as we reflect on the kindness and generosity of this community. We are proud to be among the overcomers, hope-givers, freedom-fighters, peacemakers, and change agents.

We look forward to creating more ripples with you in 2020.

“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”. -Helen Keller

Will you join us?

Because at the end of the day, aren’t we all just walking each other home?
